Inspired by the ancient, almost entirely forgotten civilisations that lived in the Mesopotamian valley. Those that are awaking endless inspirations of the forgotten knowledge, music, art, culture and way of life. Starting from powerful Babylon to mysterious Sumer, the conquest-driven Assyrian Empire, the Akkadians and many others. With this sample pack and Kontakt instrument, we wanted to inspire you, but not by the powerful calls and belts, but by the calm, slow and almost sorrowful phrases that invoke a ghost of time that is no more. Our main focus was ambient tones and colours of Andrea's voice, the ones perfect for creating atmospheric backgrounds and large, mysterious ambients.
We approached this sample pack by testing a whole range of high-end microphones from our microphone locker. Starting from U47, 251E, M49 and A440. Out of all those, we stopped at M49 as being the one that brings Andrea's soft notes to the finest detail. To add an additional twist, we added a second M49 so that the vocals are recorded in stereo. We found that this brought the vocals to sound the fullest even without any effects added. Preamp-wise, usually our main choice is a high-end 73-style preamp. However, this time we went with the finest possible tube-based preamp available on the market today - VT2. It brought the vocals and microphones, a beautiful balance throughout the whole range of frequencies, making the recordings extremely smooth. Finally, all of this was hugged with the elegantly coloured and clean converter that we consider to be the best choice for recording - B16.
